Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson had the most iconic nickname in basketball for over a decade: the Splash Bros. They set new records and won four championships together as the world pinned them as two of the greatest 3-point shooters to ever grace the game.
Their partnership ended in the 2024 offseason as Thompson’s contract expired, and he signed a three-year, $50 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
The Warriors were quick to find his replacement, though, and the new addition is quite the sharpshooter himself. Buddy Hield, who is entering his ninth NBA season, will don the Golden State threads alongside Curry.
Hield has made a name for himself in the NBA as a lethal long-range shooter. He’s not quite Thompson in his prime, but Hield has excellent touch from behind the arc.

It’s catchy and similar enough to the old nickname that fans won’t forget the old moniker. It’s uncertain whether the nickname will remain throughout the Curry-Hield tenure, but it’s catching on through the offseason.
