Megan Thee Stallion kicked off the 2024 MTV VMAs with an homage to the Olympics.

In her opening monologue, the “Hot Girl Summer” singer and awards show host appeared in a patriotic, one-shoulder bodysuit that channeled the Olympics and name-checked Simone Biles.

“Shout out to Simone Biles. Did she let me borrow this?” Megan said, flaunting her bodysuit, which featured “VMA” emblazoned across her chest.

Added the “Mamushi” rapper, “I want to give a shout out to my hotties and my ‘hatties,’ because I know y’all watching, too.”

“As you can see, I am repping team VMA, and tonight, VMA stands for the voluptuous Megan awards,” Megan said. “Clearly, I deserve a gold medal for being a bad bitch.”

Megan, 29, has previously won two Moon Person trophies. In 2019, she won best power anthem with Nicki Minaj & Ty Dolla $ign for “Hot Girl Summer.” She took home the best hip-hop song award for “Savage” the following year.

This year, she is up for four awards: best hip hop, best visual effects and best direction for “Boa” along with best collaboration with GloRilla for “Wanna Be.”

The ceremony marked Megan’s first time hosting an awards show. She previously pulled double duty hosting and performing on Saturday Night Live in October 2022, with two musical guest appearances already on her resume at that point.

Her VMAs hosting gig comes not long after her Hot Girl Summer Tour wrapping up overseas in July. She also released her third album, titled MEGAN on June 28.

Days after the album drop, she opened the BET Awards by hatching out of a giant egg onstage.

Megan also stars in a Pepsi commercial with Josh Allen and Travis Kelce that dropped earlier this month ahead of the 2024-2025 NFL Season. “A Pepsi commercial is such a huge deal,” she told PEOPLE about the star-studded ad.

Performers at the 2024 MTV VMAs include Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, Rauw Alejandro, Halsey, Lenny Kravitz, Lisa, Benson Boone, Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J and Shawn Mendes.

Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominations with 10 nods, followed by Post Malone with nine. Bad Bunny, Eminem, SZA, Billie Eilish, Charli xcx and Olivia Rodrigo are among the other nominees up for Moon Persons.

The 2024 MTV VMAs air on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/ PT live from the UBS Arena in New York.
